Pattaya, the 4th of March 2010 [PDN]: At 6:00pm on Thursday, police Lieutenant Colonel Samran Kamwattana has received report that a fellow officer had committed suicide at his apartment behind the Pattaya police station.

Immediately following the discovery police Colonel Nunthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent) was informed of the incident and reported to the scene with the Deputy Superintendant, Lieutenant Colonel Tharathep Toopanich and the Deputy Director of Combat, Lieutenant Colonel Krisakorn Thongint.
The officer was found to be Senior Sergeant Major Suporn Auncharoen [48] a Chief Justice of Investigations with the Pattaya police. At the time of his death he had been lying on his bed in his third-floor room at the Pattaya police apartment block. Snr Sgt Maj Auncharoen had received one gunshot wound to the heart with evidence of gunpowder residue on his right hand. The police issue pistol was found lying on the bed beside his body.

Further police investigations revealed the presence of two presumed suicide notes, one addressed to his family and the other to his colleagues. In the letters he describes, suffering from an unstated illness, whilst being significantly affected by stress and depression as a result of his work with the Pattaya police as such choosing to end his own life.

Hard to tell with these low res pictures but:
Mighty clean looking gun for a point blank self shot.
You'd also expect it to land on the body or to the victim's left.
Any recoil toss from the hand would not be aligned as shown unless a major coincidence.
The right hand also appears to have no blood backspatter on it at all. Can't tell if the right arm does or not.
The exit blood stain seems to indicate a straight through trajectory - a very uncomfortable conventional grip unless he used his thumb. If he used his thumb the gun would not be positioned as if it was in his hand, but pointing toward him on the floor. He also should have a lesion on his right thumb, which it does not look like he does.
Looks like a staged scene and execution to me. The presence of a note, or a gun that looks like it was dropped from a standard hand grip, does not seal it as a suicide.
