I hate these shoulder tapping street vendors, they are menace and can ruin a good night out. Well done Pattaya Police. Constantly being harassed by them when sat at many bars, and sometimes these darn flower sellers are queuing up to tap your shoulder. Maybe some of the pro-begging posters here would like to set up a little welfare fund for them... It ruins the image of what is supposed to be a tourist city, if police let in run out of control it would be no Tourist city anymore.

Get the children off the streets and let them have some sort of a childhood that all children deserve...End of story.
Regarding street sellers now we are lucky to have them off the street maybe now they can simply add to more serious crime of roberies, murder to aid supporting their families??? Good work yet again Pattaya Police!

Im not annoyed by an elderly woman trying to sell some Flowers or try to make a picture. But for me very disturbing is when i see 5 year old children begging 2am in the morning not going away unless you give them something. The money always goes to a gang and not to the children. These children are just controlled by the gang. They should sleep at this time and go to school next morning. I actually appreciate the effort of the so called street sellers since as Rob mentioned there is no welfare system in Thailand and these people just trying to make a honest living. If you take that away from them...then some might switch over to selling much more profitable Yabaa and ice.
I say..no children on walking street after 1am and just scan street sellers as to what and how they sell. (with how i mean how aggressive they aproach customers)

People posting here have spent so much time On walking street the sellers do not bother them because they are recognized. But for the tourists especially the first few days will get tapped on the shoulder literally every 10 seconds and the nuisance ruins peoples vacations. Its good they get rid of all of them and lady boy pick pockets too

Half the appeal of Walking Street to tourists are these very people....

I for one do not want to come to Pattaya if I am not accosted by a 5 year old girl shoving flowers in my face or a lady with a Lemur trying to sell pictures on Walking Street...it's called CHARM

LEAVE THEM ALONE and focus on criminals who do bodily harm to, or rob, the people that feed you - the tourists.

Pattaya would be an even bigger shithole than it already is without tourists and without tourist-drawing streetwalkers and bargirls.

Know who feeds you and leave them alone and actually regulate ad protect them

Over the last couple of years hundreds of tourists had been murdered and "falling" out of high rise buildings and the police was doing nothing. ("It was suicid")
I have to agree with Rob, and it is absdolutely ridiculous to arrest hard working innocent people who are just trying to survive

I have said it before and I will say it again, there is no way that the police should be raiding innocent people trying to make a dollar in a country that has no public welfare system or unemployed insurance system in place. Most of the street vendors are just trying to make ends meet and are of good intent. Usually it is the city red truck police that appear and chase the vendors up and down beach road every time there is a party planned and they need some goodies for it and looking pretty stupid at the same time. As said before, these vendors should be permitted and it should be displayed around their neck while working. They (the authorities) can make just about as much money by doing this as they do fining them once or twice a year.



And whats with the cops having big laughs in the background of the photos. Do they think it is funny that they have put these people in financial stress? The cops in Pattaya and I mean the tourist police as well and the city and federallies, think that these kinds of busts are a big joke. We the interested tourist do also but the joke is on them as far as I am conserned.



Street sellers will always be there so make them legal and control them with permits. If no permit then fine them and get your regular police off their duffs and out on walking beats checking the street sellers as well as general crime. Why wait at the office for a phone call and all go to the scene with the General. Seems to be the way things are done, doesn't it?
the whole street vendor system is such a mess and it only seems to come to the fore front when the boys do a raid. "RAID!!!" hahaha!!!
Go back to the office and have some Thai donuts and Tea.

Is that the best Pattaya Police can do? Why not concentrate on the violent crime, stabbings, burglaries, killings and child molesters instead of a few upright individuals trying to earn a crust. Sometimes I think the world has gone mad.
