Sattahip, the 25th of February 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 4:00pm on Thursday, Sattahip Marshal Mr. Charn Iamjarern (Drug Enforcement Special Unit Chief) along with various other officers and a team of special police successfully apprehended a student dealer who had been under investigation for several weeks. Mr. Kittiwut Khathasaeng [19] the offender was arrested after a sting operation involving an undercover operative.
Marshal Iamjarern revealed that investigations into Mr. Khathasaeng had been ongoing over the last few weeks after police were tipped off about alleged drug distribution at the Pattanawech Technology School. An undercover operative had finally been used to arrange a meeting where by he would purchase 10 Ya-Ba pills. Arriving at Mr. Khathasaeng’s house in Phlutaluang, Sattahip the officer completed the transaction before a police taskforce entered the premises, arresting the offender. Officers confiscated 10 pills of Ya-Ba and 2,100 baht in cash, a mobile phone and a blue Honda Wave motorbike.

Interrogation of Mr. Khathasaeng revealed that he had been selling Ya-Ba for a long-time without being apprehended. He stated that his main customers were fellow pupils from the Pattanawech Technology School and several youths from the Sattahip area. Mr. Khathasaeng further revealed that he had been purchasing the pills for approximately 180 baht each from Mr. Jued [20] also living in Phlutaluang, before on selling the product for between 200-250 baht per pill.
Mr. Khathasaeng explained to police that he had become severely addicted to Ya-Ba after being turned onto it by a friend. He explained that he used to spend his tuition fees on the drug solely for personal consumption before progressing to selling the substance in order to fund his growing addiction. Sattahip naval police have now remanded Mr. Khathasaeng in custody until further judicial proceedings commence.
