Pattaya, the 24th of February 2010 [PDN]: Police Lieutenant Colonel Weerawut Meelai, (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified at 8.00 am of a foreign male found on the mezzanine of a 2nd floor balcony at the Royal Twin Palace Hotel, South Pattaya. The Officer notified his Superintendent and Deputy before leaving with the Sawang Boriboon Foundation to investigate the incident further.
Officers arrived at the scene to find the body of a Swedish National, identified as Mr. Lars Rutger Johansson, [57] lying on his left side in a pool of blood. At the time of his death he was wearing a white striped t-shirt, brown three quarter length pants and white socks. As a result of the impact, Mr. Johansson had suffered from broken arms, legs and a severely factured skull.
Police searched Mr. Johansson’s room, 1223 on the 12th floor and discovered numerous beer cans in a bin, a chair close to the balcony which it is believed he used to throw himself off. Interrogation of the staff revealed the deceased had checked in on 21st February and that before the incident, Mr. Johansson was seen carrying beer cans into the hotel in a depressed state.

Police Colonel Nanthawut Suwanla-orng (Pattaya Police Superintendent) stated that on searching the Mr. Johansson’s room, there did not appear to be anything suspicious about it and believed the cause of death was suicide. However, investigations will continue until they can find a reason for his unfortunate death.

Question is why no english daily like Bangkok Post and Nation do not publish these news -
THose days are not that far when Pattaya will become only the place for local fishermen and hijackers like SOMalia unless the Govt take serious action against the local police, mafias and dark influence
In the United States, jumping is among the least common methods of committing suicide (less than 2% of all reported suicides in the United States for 2005).
In South east asia jumping is the most common method of committing suicide, accounting for 52.1% of all reported suicide cases
Looks to me like the Thais are fooled into thinking farangs would choose the same method
Don't give us that about supersticious believes. Thais' in general love to see gore and this is reflected in there own language papers. But, PDN you need to check your photos before using them. I am sure you have another one of the officers investigating without them laughing. They are not just smiling nervously they are "LAUGHING". It is reporting like this that is totally wrong especially when you are a recognized English and Russian (now) web paper.
I notice you still don't caption your photos, which you should. Your editor needs to be given a different job in your paper. Maybe Office Boy? na.....
Regards.

It seems the he's fashion was more important than the facts.
Surely a handful of mogadons and a bottle of 100 pipers would be most folks first choice and if the chips were down that's what I would do.
Put on a dyper and enjoy the last few minutes. No distress and consideration for the people who have to scrape up the brains and #hit from the balcony or side-walk below.
Whoever is throwing the Europeans off the balconies in this Wild West town needs to get caught by the laughing boys.
I suspect there's a Katooey out there drinking with these Farangs, throwing them over the balcony, and walking off with the money.
By the end of the report, he had thrown himself off due to suicide. Could the reporter please make up his mind? Or is it the police changed theirs?
