Pattaya, the 24th of February 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 4:30am on Wednesday, police Captain Narongdet Tanaphoonsin (Pattaya Police Investigator) was informed, whilst on patrol in North Pattaya, that a crazed foreigner had assaulted a security guard in a popular hotel in the area. Cpt. Tanaphoonsin and rescue officers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation rushed to the scene to investigate and treat the injured victim.
At the scene, room 2118 of a North Pattaya Hotel, Cpt. Tanaphoonsin discovered an obviously drunk or drug affected foreigner. The man, now known to be Mr. Baksa Zoltan [28] a Russian national had been standing in the hallway in front of his room. Mr. Zoltan was in possession of a 1 meter length sharp steel object whilst another foreigner, believed to be a well-known boxer at the Fairtex Muay Thai Boxing Stadium, was attempting to calm him down and defuse the situation.
Police Captain Tanaphoonsin explained that he had approached the pair to assist in the mediation. The conversation lasted for over an hour before the foreign boxer was able to disarm and incapacitate Mr. Zoltan. Allegedly the gathered crowd around the incident, numbering up to 10 people, then proceeded to assault Mr. Zoltan whilst he had been knocked to the ground by the boxer. Once the situation was brought under control, police removed Mr. Zoltan from the scene and began an investigation.
Police, after speak with the injured security guard Mr. Phumiret Saengban [38], revealed that Mr. Zoltan was somewhat
of a recluse, having checked into the hotel on the 18th of February, rarely leaving his room on the 2nd floor since he had arrived. At the time of the incident Mr. Saengban explained that he had been patrolling the first floor when he had heard a loud bang from the floor above. Proceeding to the 2nd floor he was confronted by Mr. Zoltan who had a bruised and bloody hand, possibly from punching the wall or door, creating the loud bang.
Mr. Saengban explained that he had attempted to assist Mr. Zoltan with his hand, also helping to clean-up the room, which was in a severe state of disarray. Whilst assisting Mr. Zoltan, with his back turned, he was knocked over the head with an empty beer bottle. Luckily, he was not severely injured and was able to escape the scene running to inform the hotel manager and subsequently the police.
Officers have now, arrested Mr. Zoltan, remanding him in custody until such time as he is sober enough to provide police with a statement. Assault charges are expected to be laid by Mr. Saengban who has already filed an official report with Lieutenant Colonel Preecha Samrit of the Pattaya Police.

hei its richards friend here,alan,
this is only half the story, part 1 has been left out and if your reporters were half as professional as they should be they would of attempted to speak to a guest and not the hotel manager.who only wants to cover the whole story up..i was in room 2116 his neighbour...he had been trying to smash down our door for half an hour, from 3.05am..they refused to call the police after turning up from there sleep, the guards..he was then taken down to reception where he seemed calm but then taken back to his room to sleep it off.i said this was bull shit...his room was smashed up.with no electricity and glass and blood everywhere..he then hit the guard for some reason, and then the police were called after 2 guards locked themselves in his room2118...he then wanted to kill me,banging again on our door..so after 2 hours myself and my girlfriend jakie climbed over the balcony to the next room and to safety..the hotel has absolutly no customer care service what so ever...it was the fairtex hotel.. the police were of no help either..if it was,nt for the new zealand man taking action they would probaly be still there and talking to him..it was very very frightning...regards alan...i tried to talk to some young reporters but no english and not interested and very young..
Thai's don't care - Serbian, Russian, Lithuanian, Polish or Czech. They will say - Russian.
And.. Baksa Zoltan is a HUNGARIAN national. Only 0.002% probability that he has a Russian passport. So he's a EUROPEAN! And maybe you should ban all Europeans (Hungarians first) from Pattaya?
Peace and love! That's what u need.
Fairtex was Michael Goodman from New Zealand.....
Baksa Zoltan is not a russian name. )) This is a Hungary name.
Cowards.
My next vacation will be in Manila where gangs of locals beating on tourists has police consequences, irrespective of what happened between the tourist and one or two locals.
