USA, the 23rd of February 2010 [PDN]: Renee Bowman (44) from the State of Maryland in the US, has been convicted for the murder of two adopted daughters whose bodies were found stored in her household freezer. It is believed that Bowman had taken the bodies with her every time she moved house.
Renee Bowman was found guilty of two counts of first degree murder and three counts of first degree child abuse. Her crimes came to light when a surviving girl was found then aged 7 years after she managed to escape. The girl was only semi dressed and covered in blood.
It is not known when the two girls died, but had they lived, they would now have been 11 and 12 years old. Bowman moved three times in the past three years, taking the large freezer along containing the bodies of Minnet, the eldest and
Jasmine.
Bowman received subsidies for all three children from the District of Columbia where the girls who were special needs were adopted. Subsidies are paid to all parents who adopt a special needs child from foster care.
Bowman is already serving a 25 year prison sentence after admitting to abusing the third child who is now nine and living with new foster parents. The girl testified in the murder trial last week.
Bowman will be sentenced over the new convictions on the 22nd March 2010. Prosecutors say they will be asking for life without the possibility of parole.
