Underage Prostitute Ring Busted in Pattaya

Pattaya police investigations have uncovered a sizeable underage prostitute ring involving up to 15 Thai girls. It is believed that the girls had been selling their services in order to finance their education.

Pattaya, the 21^st of February 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 10:30pm on Sunday, police Colonel Nunthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent) along with a team of police, successfully busted a large prostitute gang offering underage Thai girls for sexual service in the Pattaya area. Local residents on Third Road, Pattaya, had reported the operations to police, who immediately put together an undercover sting operation in order to catch the culprits.

After obtaining the location of the gang’s leader, an unnamed police officer went to request the services of 4 girls under the age of 18. The price of 1,500 baht per girl was agreed upon which was paid to the gang leader immediately at the ‘Chuen Jai’ restaurant on Pattaya’s Third Road.

When the 4 girls appeared, they and the gang leader were immediately arrested by the waiting police who escorted them promptly down to Pattaya Police Station. Miss Chonthicha Thabmanee [18] from Naklua, the gangs leader, under interrogation revealed that she had 15 girls that she was offering to clients for sexual service, all of who where under the age of 18.

Miss Thabmanee further explained that the usual price for one girl was 1,500 baht of which she would take a 500 baht commission and the rest would be kept by the girl. Upon her arrest Miss Thabmanee was also found in possession of 6,000 baht in cash, believed to be the proceeds from her prostitution business. Most of the girls are believed to be school students who were using prostitution as a way to fund their education.

Police have now charged Miss Thabmanee with providing under-age woman for sexual services and using a minor in an illegal manner in order to gain financial benefit. The 4 minors arrested were charged with public prostitution. Miss Thabmanee has been remanded in police custody awaiting further judicial proceedings to commence.

In reality underage girls have always been very sexually active in the land of smiles. Why do you think they smile so much ;) Every guy has some form of so called pedophilia, so what. I don't condone underage prostitution but I don't criminalize it either. So many people take the whole issue of our sexuality way to seriously. Any girl who's around 16 or younger, accept it or not, is ready for fun. So why label anyone a pedophile. I think we should be much more concerned with dangerous violent predatory types of people rather than people who are attracted to and desire young girls. Give em all a break. Decriminalize teen sex with adults and get over it already.

Good point pete! There are scores of bars where there are underage girls and the police don't raid them because the managers pay the bribes. On Soi LK Metro, for example there is one bar where 90% of the girls are underage. Of course this does not make it right, but I am not going to stone some tourist to death for sex crimes if he picks up some tart who is 16/17, covered in tattoos, and seen more pricks than Jockey Wilson's dartboard and gobbles for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
