London 18th February 2010 [PDN] Ukrainian football team Shakhtar Donetsk will be seeking revenge at their game tonight against Fulham after being turned away from London’s top store Harrods.
The Ukrainian team visited the store in Knightsbridge on Monday, but were refused entry because their group was ‘too big and suspicious’.

Shakhtar won the UEFA Cup last year and will be meeting Fulham in the last 32 of the Europa League at Craven Cottage tonight.
A statement on Shakhtar’s official website said, “The footballers decided to spend their money at one of London’s reputable shops, Harrods and were eager to buy at lot, but was not allowed to enter the shop. All of them were wearing similar tracksuits and explained they were a football team and were not in the habit of taking tuxedos to the training camp to go shopping. The explanation fell on deaf ears so the players continued shopping in another store where the owner was very glad.”
A spokesman for Harrods said the store did not wish to offend or upset visitors, but the difficult decision had been taken in the interest of health and safety. Fulham Manager Roy Hodgson said,”I’m surprised to hear it. The chairman normally loves people to spend their money with him!”
Although Shakhtar have not played competitively since December 16th, that did not stop them beating Tottenham 3-1 on aggregate at the same time last year.
