Bangkok Hospital Group to Spend 200 Million Baht on Improvements

The Bangkok Hospital Group of the Eastern Seaboard recently revealed this year’s new ‘Health Care’ plan in response to the improving economy and rising tourism.They are expecting to get more foreign patients in Koh Chang and pattaya this year and because of that, the Bangkok Hospital Group of the Eastern Seaboard will spend 200 million baht to buy new high-tech medical equipment for all of the hospitals under its name.They are expecting business to grow by more than 10% after the economic crisis last year where growth percentage was zero.

CEO of the Bangkok Hospital Group of the Eastern Seaboard Dr.Prayuth Somprakit who takes care of the Bangkok Hospital chain in Pattaya,Rayong, Chantaburi, Trad, and Koh Chang said, “Our 200 million baht budget will be used to by new modern equipment as well as improve specialized medical services. After being accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) in the U.S.A. the Bangkok Hospital Pattaya has been the ‘medical hub’ for patients in the Eastern region. People no longer have to travel to Bangkok for special treatment. The Bangkok Hospital Pattaya is now the best heart transplant center in the Eastern region.

“We will get a coronary artery ultrasound machine that will make diagnoses more efficient. We will also offer heart operations and heart stent surgery 24 hours a day as well,” added Dr. Prayuth.

As for Bangkok Hospital Rayong, Dr. Prayuth revealed that the money will be spent on buying a machine specially for heart diagnoses. The hospitals under the Bangkok Hospital chain will also be given other improvements and an increase in emergency medical services.

Dr. Prayuth said, “Tourists and locals usually travel by cars or motorcycles and accidents can occur anytime. Therefore we need to offer an emergency service that is standard and reliable.”

As for the Bangkok Hospital Chantaburi, there will be a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) center and professional heart doctors will be recruited.”

“We will work together with the Bangkok Hospital Trad and Bangkok Hospital Koh Chang to offer more services in koh chang so that patients don t have to come to the city to receive medical treatments because we can offer more services on the island,” added Dr. Prayuth.

The most important issues this year are to make sure that all of our hospitals charge the same prices and to improve our medical transportation service. We will buy more helicopters so that our patients can receive medical help quickly no matter where they are. Our helicopters are designed especially for medical transportation and equipped with necessary medical tools. Not only that, we also have ambulances in every area as well as ICU mobile buses,” said Dr. Prayuth.

As for the financial aspect of the hospitals, Dr. Prayuth expects the hospital finances to improve due to improvements in economy and tourism.

“Last year, the Bangkok Hospital chain suffered lower numbers of patients especially in Pattaya due to the economic and political crisis. Most of our hospitals are located in tourist destinations so when the airport closed down we were greatly affected. The numbers of foreign patients decreased by 60% last year resulting a zero percent in business growth,” said Dr. Prayuth.

“At the moment the tourism business is starting to pick up which can clearly be seen form the increasing number of tourists and the growing number of patients coming in. If there is no political chaos this year we are expecting to see a growth of more than 10%. Bangkok Hospital Koh chang and Chantaburi are gradually getting more patients as well. As for the Bangkok Hospital Rayong, if the government does not find solutions for the pollution in Map Ta Put, we will face serious employment issues which will affect the operation of the hospital,” he said.

The Bangkok Hospitals throughout the Eastern region are working together in unison to improve their services and become the leading medical facility. They are serving under the motto “We are close to your heart” which refers to all patients including local residents and tourists.

Great! Now we can have the same outrageously high prices at all locations.

Why is Bangkok Pattaya even more expensive than Bumrungrad, which is considered to be the best hospital in Thailand?

Helicoppter are fun but seldom used and there are other immediate problems. Jim is absolutely right on with his idea for a Jomtiem ambulance sub station and 24 hour clinic for BPH. A 20-30 ambulance wait has it's consequences, possible DOA at the hospital!

BPH should also consider a pre registered customer database of exact Google map coordinates to use with their installed ambulance GPS units. We have seen the problem too many times before. Many phone calls needed and associated misunderstanding, like we are at xxxx location and how do we get to you? Huh, what, not understand. Seconds and minutes lost can=death and no big hospital bill for BPH to charge the customer. You have technology installed, implement it for it's best use!

Dr. Prayuth, As I write this, I am currently in the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. I have received wonderful medical care here now and in years past. The Staff and Doctors are truly world class...I appreciate their fine caring... Thank You!
May I suggest the hospital station several of your fleet of ambulances..which I have counted as 10, and which are ALL stationed at your hospital in North Pattaya...be placed in the South Pattaya/Jomtien and Central Pattaya communities you serve. With the many condos located in Jomtien, and tourists/expats ...having a 24 hour clinic with ambulances on duty there makes good sense to me and will help getting needed medical care to those needing it quickly. It takes way too long for ambulance to get to South Pattaya/Jomtien in an emergency call. The old KFC building located opposite the Police Station at Jomtien/Dongtan Beach or a clinic/ambulance team in Jomtien Complex...would be excellent locations for such a 24 hour clinic and ambulance response team to be stationed. Having a heart attack and waiting 20 to 30 minutes for an ambulance to respond from North Pattaya dooms the patient. Opening outpatient clinics in Pattaya should be an excellent source of hospital inpatients too.
