Pattaya Beach Expansion Plans Discussed

Share
The Pattaya Business & Tourism Association (PBTA) recently discussed the issue of sand erosion on Pattaya Beach. Reports presented to the PBTA have stated that Pattaya Beach has significantly narrowed in the last 10 years and would continue to do so if a solution is not found.

Pattaya, the 10th of February 2010 [PDN]: Pattaya City Deputy Mayor Mr. Ronkid Ekasing discussed the matter of Pattaya Beach erosion with the PBTA along with the proposal to change the laws in regards to the amount of ‘beach bed’ operators that will be allowed on the shoreline.

A proposal has been put forward to create and artificial beach of natural sand that will extend the existing shoreline out into Pattaya Bay by approximately 50 meters. Before any development work can proceed the council will enlisted a specialist team of engineers for the Department of Underground Resources.
These specialists will survey and investigate the consequences and environmental impact of such a project to determine its viability.

Mr. Ekasing also announced the formation of a special fund that will be created to provide the money for any development that is to take place in relation to Pattaya Beaches’ erosion problems.

Pattaya has the best weather and nightlife in Thailand, the only thing missing is a decent beach. What a great idea, hope it happens sooner than later...

Huh!! I doubt this will be effected properly! They would need to create an artificial wave barrier, ie A reef and then would have to ban speed boats from churning up the beach sand, no chance. What's the bet they will simply drag sand out of the sea and dump it on the beach!
