Pattaya, the 10th of February 2010 [PDN]: At the conference room in Green Park Hotel & Resort the Business & Tourism Association, chaired by President Mr. Jaroon Wisawachaiphan, discussed various issues relating to the Pattaya City region.
This year’s first meeting addressed the issue of the impending Thailand Trade Show which is scheduled for June 2010. It was announced at this meeting that businesses were continuing to be approached about exhibiting their product or service at the show for a cost of 20,000 baht per table. The 12th of February has been listed as the cut off date for new applications.
The main focus of the February meeting was the issue of H1N1 vaccinations throughout the region. Thailand as a whole has seen a very small turnout at most of its vaccination stations with efforts being made in Pattaya to encourage people to attend. Pregnant woman, the disabled, overweight and elderly are being targeted specifically, due to their higher risk of infection.
Other issues that were discussed at the meeting included the recent survey done on the need to restrict vendors operating on Pattaya and Jomtien Beach, specifically the beach bed operators. Water shortages in the dry season were discussed as well as the important issue of maritime safety in the Pattaya Bay and surrounding sea.
