Valentines Day: Pattaya Attempt World Speed Dating Record

Singles around the world will be closely watching Pattaya’s Royal Garden Plaza at 2.30 pm on Saturday 13th February. The Guinness Record for the “World’s Largest Speed Dating” event will be challenged by our local gentlemen and ladies, and it needs more than 225-contestants to beat the new world record, which is held by Germany.

Pattaya, the 8^th of February 2010 [PDN]: Instead of a normal chance meeting between couples of the opposite sex, the “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” will stage “face to face” meetings between young men and women. Being the day before “Valentines Day,” it is a very opportune time for young Pattaya couples to meet in what can lead to some very exciting new friendships.

In an interview with PDN at a press conference, Ripley’s General Manager, Khun Somporn Naksuetrong said, – Each of the contestants will be allowed to talk to 20-prospective daters of the opposite sex for a period of three minutes each.” As a result of these short conversations the contestants will note down their preferred choices of dating partners, and these will be evaluated by the “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” team.

Khun Somporn Naksuetrong went on to say, – “Where both couples have been in agreement, they will be notified by E-mail or phone, and after that it is up to them to make their own individual arrangements for a date.” Registration can be done beforehand at www.ripleysthailand.com, although it can also be done before this record breaking attempt.

This event will be officially declared open inside South Pattaya’s Royal Garden Plaza on Second Road at 2.00 pm and the two hours of “boy meets girl” conversations will start at 2.30 pm. So all you “guys & gals” be there early for this world attempt on the “Largest Speed Dating Event,” because we just have to win this one, to keep up Pattaya’s reputation as the leading city where loving friendships begin.
