A German national has been found dead at his house on Sukhumvit Road, Pattaya. It is believed that the man committed suicide as a result of some ongoing financial troubles.

Pattaya, the 8th of February 2010 [PDN]: Police Lieutenant Colonel Thailert Luepue (Dong Tan Police Investigator) received a report on Monday stating that a foreign man had been found hanged in his house opposite the GPM Place on Sukhumvit Road, Pattaya. A team of police along with a doctor from the Banglamung Hospital and rescue officers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation went to the scene to investigate.

At the scene, officers discovered the deceased body of Mr. Tomas Ernst [60] a German national. Mr. Ernst had hanged himself from the sliding gate-frame of the house and was wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts. A plastic bag was covering his head and he had sustained heavy bruising to his knees and legs. Medical examiners estimate that he had been dead for between 3-4 hours.

Police interrogated Mr. Manat Sordsong [23], the adoptive son of Mr. Ernst, who had discovered the deceased body of his father. Mr. Sordsong explained that his father had previously owned the Marina Inn Hotel, Soi Suni Plaza, South Pattaya. Recently he was forced to sell the business as he faced financial ruin due to some trouble with his business partner. The hotel was sold to another foreign owner and Mr. Ernst apparently had to gain employment under the new owner.

Mr. Sordsong explained that recently Mr. Ernst had become increasingly distressed over his financial troubles and was severely depressed. Mr. Sordsong explained that he had visited his father often and when he heard of his suspension from his job due to absenteeism he went around to the house with his girlfriend to find his father had committed suicide.

Police, in light of the evidence, suspect that depression and stress led Mr. Ernst to commit suicide, however; his body will be sent for autopsy to see if there are any additional issues. The German embassy will now be informed of the death so that any family may be notified. .

He hanged himself. And everybody is so sure about this. Yes before he placed a plastic bag over his head just to make sure in case of hanging is not getting the job done. He had some trouble with his partner. Maybe he knew something which nobody else should find out? hhmmm well who cares...he hanged himself. To bad nobody was willing to help him...or maybe was there somebody???
