Japanese youngster Daiki Kameda successfully captured the WBA flyweight belt on Sunday after a rematch with Thailand’s Denkaosen Kaowichit in Kobe, Japan.
Kobe, the 7th of February 2010 [PDN]: Daiki Kameda [21] who last fought Kaowichit in October of 2009 in Osaka, losing in a point’s decision, finally gained revenge on Sunday winning a comprehensive point’s decision, in which all three judges had him the clear winner.

The fight is being described as somewhat of a non-event with several sources stating that it was one of the least technical bouts that have been staged where a championship title has be
en up for grabs. Daiki’s win means that the Kameda camp, which includes his brother Koki [23], now owns the 112-pound flyweight category, Koki being the current holder of the WBC flyweight belt.
In the pair’s last bout in Osaka, Kaowichit emerged victorious in a narrow point’s decision, in which Daiki still maintains he was the better fighter. The rematch was announced and authorised by the WBA despite Takefumi Sakata requesting a rematch against Kaowichit who KO’d him to take the title in 2008.
Boxing pundits observed that the former-champ was the better fighter early on, displaying the slick punching and flexible combinations which gained him the title, however; after the seventh he visibly tired letting Daika gain the upper hand. Kaowichit was also penalised two times for clinching whilst Daika slipped to the ground losing balance an unbelievable 5 times.
