Chon-Buri, the 7th of February 2010 [PDN]: Police Major General Kittiphong Ngaomuk (Region 2 Police Commissioner) and Lieutenant Colonel Chatree Suksiri (Region 2 Deputy Superintendant) held a press conference to announce the successful apprehension of two major drug dealers of the Chon-Buri region.
Maj. Gen. Ngaomuk explained that police, acting on an anonymous tipoff, raided a house at 2/10, Moo 3, Samed, Chon-Buri finding Mrs Ketgnam Pholsutjarit [31] and Miss Natawan Prakobphol [19] in an intoxicated state. The pair were both immediately drug tested, confirming police suspicions that they were under the influence of an illegal substance. A search of the house uncovered approximately 3200 pills of Ya-Ba hidden in the ceiling of the bedroom. Police also uncovered and amount of 20,000 baht cash which was obviously the proceeds from the drug dealing.
The pair confessed to distributing drugs, however; they were quick to explain that their husbands had been the masterminds of the dealings, after having met each other in prison. Mrs. Pholsutjarit stated that her husband and that of Miss Prakobphol had been conducting the drug operation via mobile phone from Chon-Buri prison. The pair also revealed that there was a third man who was involved, running the drugs by car from Sara Buri.
Police will now investigate the suspect’s allegations and proceed in trying to arrest the third offender. The two women have been detained in police custody and await judicial proceedings to commence.
