Sriracha, the 7th of February 2010[PDN]: A fire broke out in an old document storage facility in the Laem Chabang Port, Sriracha. Fire-fighters attending the scene after a distress called had been placed, noticed that the blaze was severe threatening the surrounding area.
Firemen battled the blazing building for over an hour before it was finally extinguished, also managing to prevent any further damage to the surrounding buildings or properties. Investigations with the Port Authority revealed that the building belonged to the Italian-Thai Co Ltd which changed its name to Consult Co Ltd. The building contained old paperwork and various other documentation.
Officers estimate the cost of the damage to be approximately 200,000 baht. At present it is assumed that the fire was started as a result of an electrical spark which ignited on the massive amounts of wooden and paper materials stored within the building.
Insurance investigators will now examine the remains in the hopes of determining the reasons behind the blaze.
