A German national reported to police on Thursday that his apartment in Soi Chalermprakiet, South Pattaya had been robbed. The money and valuables stolen from the room totalled close to 1 million baht in value.

Pattaya, the 5th of February 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 11:00pm police Lieutenant Colonel Weerawat (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified that a foreigner’s apartment had been robbed, at a guesthouse in Soi Chalermprakiet, South Pattaya. A team of police proceeded to the scene to investigate.

At the scene, room 301 on the 3rd floor of a 5-storey guesthouse, police discovered that the doorknob of the apartment’s front entrance had been broken. A brief investigation revealed that the safety deposit box had been stolen whilst the entire apartment had quite obviously been searched.

Mr. Punter Hunt [68] the German national who was the tenant stated, that he and his Thai girlfriend had gone out, returning to find the apartment had been broken into, with all his valuables and money stolen. The offenders managed to get away with approximately 150,000 baht, 5,000 Euro, a passport, plane ticket and various other valuables worth approximately 400,000 baht. Mr. Hunt stated that he notified police and his landlord immediately after returning to his room.

Miss Susak Pragon [32] the landlord, stated that two middle-eastern men had checked into the adjacent room on the previous evening but had not provided any identification. Only one t-shirt was found in their room upon investigation.

Police will continue to follow through with an investigation in the hopes of apprehending the offenders, who are believed to be the middle-eastern men that checked into the opposite room to Mr. Hunt.
