Pattaya, the 5th of February 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 2:00am police Captain Pradiput Moonlee (Dong Tan Police Investigator) received a report that a foreigner in an intoxicated state was causing a disturbance and damaging property at the Dodo Bar Beer, Soi 7, Jomtien Beach Road. A team of police along with rescue volunteers rushed to the scene to investigate.

At the scene police witnessed a foreign man, now known to be Mr. John W. Lechleitner [60] an American national, shouting and throwing furniture at another foreigner, Mr. Pallae Sondergard [44] Danish national. Mr. Sondergard was suffering from a small cut to the forehead and was trying to avoid Mr. Lechleitner’s assault. Officers moved in to arrest Mr. Lechleitner before he did any further damage to the establishment or harmed anyone further, whilst rescue officers rendered first aid to Mr. Sondergard.

Officers proceeded to interrogate Mr. Lechleitner’s Thai girlfriend, Miss Suwimon Termsuk [26], who explained that she had arrived at the bar to find her boyfriend of two years in a severely drunken state. After confronting Mr. Lechleitner about why he had been gone for so long and become so drunk, an argument ensued. Mr. Lechleitner then allegedly slapped Miss Termsuk in the face. Mr. Sondergard the Danish national intervened in an attempt to breakup the argument at which point Mr. Lechleitner punched him in the face.

Miss Pranee Chumpiean [41], the Bar Beer owner explained that Mr. Lechleitner had managed to destroy several beer glasses and a table and chair during the incident. At present, Miss Chumpiean explained to police that she will discuss the matter of compensation once Mr. Lechleitner is sober. Mr. Lechleitner was taken to the police station where he will remain until he is sober at which point he will be interrogate and possibly charged for the incident.
