Veteran Affair: Mayweather – Mosley Fight Confirmed

Share
Champion boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has finally announced a highly anticipated bout against world title holder Shane Mosley at Madison Square Garden in Las Vegas. The fight is scheduled for May the 1st.

New York, the 3rd of February 2010 [PDN]: Following the cancellation of the superfight between Mayweather and Filipino, Manny Pacquiao over drug testing stipulations, both fighters have rushed to confirm replacements fights. Pacquiao recently announced his fight will against Ghanaian Joshua Clottey at the newly constructed Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. Although it has been stated Mayweather was lining up a warm-up bout in preparation for his main target, Mosley, extremely quick negotiations between the two camps the fight will go ahead earlier than expected.

Six-time World Champion Mayweather released a statement stating: “This one is definitely for the fans as I wasn’t going to waste anyone’s time with a meaningless tune-up bout and asked to fight Shane immediately. I have said ever since I came back to the sport that I only wanted to fight the best. I think Shane is one of the best, but come May 1, he still won’t be great enough to beat me.” Mayweather currently holds and unbelievable 40-0 record in professional boxing having recently returned to the ring after an 18 month retirement from competition.

In reply to Mayweather, Mosley explained: “I have always wanted to fight Floyd and now it is finally coming true. I am already in great shape and ready to show everyone on May 1 that I am stronger, faster and better than he is. I will have no problem beating him.” The 38-year-old last fought in January of 2009 where he won a ninth-round stoppage against Antonio Margarito winning the welterweight world title for a third time. Mosley holds a slightly less impressive record of 46-5 and is a five time world champion.

I've heard that Mayweather-Mosley Ticket Kicks Off : And It's Bigger Than Pacquiao-Clottey. If this is true Mayweather is really what we call Money Mayweather. But anyway whatever it takes still the best fight would be Pacquiao vs Mayweather.

Mayweather vs Mosley

Both Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley were bred to be fighters like a farmer’s prized horse. Both guys grew up with boxing gloves hanging from their crib ceilings. The debating can go on and on forever. The bottom line is neither guy is going to give you an inch – both fighters are relaxed in the ring, comfortable and fluid in such a way that it’s easy to believe boxing pumps through their veins in absence of blood. Mayweather vs Mosley im really looking forward to. Mayweather looked untouchable against the smaller Marquez and Mosley was awesome against Margarito. That fight was 18 months ago and previous to that Mosley looked ordinary against a washed up Mayorga. So is Shane still in top nick? I see Mosley starting fast using his jab to take the early rounds. Floyd usually starts slowly but will take control around round 5. The usual dropping of the shoulder and lightning counter punching will take Floyd home to a points victory and hopefully setting up the fight with Manny.

Somehow i wonder if Mosley also will have to be testet for steroids as well. I mean nobody is talking about it. Has he been asked to test? Will Floyd be tested himself? Or is that all off the table now? Just wondering....Personally i think Manny would beat him. But still i like the "actor" Floyd for his showman skills.
