Sattahip, the 29th of January 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 12:00pm, Sattahip Marshal Chanchai Iamjarern received a report from a concerned local resident informing him that he had discovered two “bombs” behind the 700 Rai Market in Sattahip. Sattahip Deputy Chief Mr. Surachet Keowkham rushed to the scene to investigate.
At the scene, approximately 200 meters behind the Sattahip market, Mr. Keowkham discovered what appeared to be two rocket propelled grenades crudely placed underneath a tree in a patch of bushland. Setting up a containment area Mr. Keowkham placed a call to the Navy Arms Department asking them to come and investigate and remove the explosives.

Navy Explosive experts informed Mr. Keowkham that they were in fact anti-tank RPG shells that had probably been stolen or decommissioned from the army. Due to the aged condition and location of the shells (secluded area of bushland) Warrant Officer Songklod Maneerueng ordered the explosives to be detonated at the site to avoid any inherent dangers of trying to remove them.
Warrant Officer Maneerueng presumed that whoever had procured the explosives had probably intended to hide them out in the bush for later use, however; due to their condition and volatility he stated that it was extremely lucky no one had tried to move them as even a small blow to one of the shells could have detonated the pair immediately.
