Sriracha, the 27th of January 2010 [PDN]: Angry residents have gathered to report the severe flooding of highway 331 at the Pag Ruam forth intersection during heavy rains. Residents informed the Chon-Buri Maintenance Office that an 80 meter stretch of the major highway is constantly being flooded during periods of rain and as a result is posing a severe threat to the safety of travelling motorists.

The flooding allegedly occurs as a result of water flowing down from the adjoining roads and collecting over the intersection, which has insufficient drainage and has a significant depression in the middle of the road. During periods of heavy rain the highway is completely flooded approximately 80 meter up the road towards Baan Bung, blocking two entrances to the Pag Ruam market and posing a significant safety hazard to motorists.
Severe potholes have also started to appear on the road as a result of the pooling water and several accidents involving motorbikes have allegedly occurred as a result. Residents of the area have requested that the Chon-Buri Maintenance Office immediately resolve the problem or face being responsible when a fatality occurs as a result of their inaction. As of the 28th of January there has been no reply from the department.
