Pattaya, the 18th of January 2010 [PDN]: At approximately 1:30pm police Lieutenant Colonel Sutham Chaosrithang (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified that a man, Mr. Pramot Kaewlar [39] had reportedly had two helmets stolen from the basket of his Black Honda Wave motorbike. The incident had occurred in front of the Carrefour Shopping Center in South Pattaya.

A brief investigation located the offender, who had fled the scene on his Suzuki Swing motorbike. Mr. Thaworn Saentawee [24], the thief, was apprehended by police in front of the S.S. Village, Pattaya. Upon investigation police uncovered 10 helmets in his possession, stored inside a big red and white plastic bag.

Mr. Saentawee confessed that he had been committing such offences regularly as he had been unable to find any gainful employment in the area. He explained to police that he had no money and no residence, committing the offence as a means to survive. Mr. Saentawee stated that he had been stealing helmets in and around the department stores of Pattaya for several months with the aid of a friend known as Yai.
Officers have arrested Mr. Saentawee who has been taken to the Banglamung Police Station and charged with theft.
