Successful Charity Dinner At Pattaya’s Café Royale

The “Thais-4-Life” charity group held a charity dinner at the “Le Café Royale” in South Pattaya’s “Boyz-Town” and raised over 131,000 baht, which will be donated to the “Baan Jing Jai Orphanage.”

Pattaya, the 8th of January 2010 [PDN]: With a lot of help from Le Café Royale’s General Manager, Mr. Thomas Kalb, the “Thais-4-Life” fundraising evening was a huge success. Over 100 patrons filled the restaurant to enjoy the delicious buffet dinner, complete with the Chef’s own carvery, which was complemented by the Le Café Royale’s extensive range of beverages.

There was some world-wide entertainment with well known British singer the star attraction being M/s Jo Francis from England, plus popular singers cum comediennes, such as Miss Jason & Maisie Trollette, that had the audience in fits of laughter. With plenty of professional performances of this quality the 490 baht fee for the dinner was at an unbelievable bargain price.

The charitable funds raised came from some very cleverly organized competitions and raffles, and a novel method of auctioning three bottles of wine was a “case in point.” By accepting ongoing fixed fees of only 100-baht for the wine, (over a fixed time period), many visitors readily donated, knowing that at the end of this pre-determined time period, the last 100-baht donor would take the prize.

The M/c and auctioneer for the evening was none other than Pattaya’s ever popular David Kerridge, whose oratory expertise & skillful auctioneering saw that items that were auctioned, netted handsome returns for this “Thais-4-Life” fundraising evening. This charity group is backed by the gay community in Pattaya, and it is noteworthy that as well as the “Baan Jing Jai Orphanage,” they also support the “School for the Blind” in Naklua, with both receiving rice & provisions throughout the year.

Le Café Royale’s General Manager, Mr. Thomas Kalb, worked tirelessly to bring this charity event to fruition, not just by having perfection in his restaurant, but also by cleverly organizing all of the entertainers to be in Pattaya on the same night.
