Responding to an emergency call from an eyewitness at 4am, Sawang Rajanathamasatarn Rescue, arrived at the incident at 169-170 km. Sukuhmvit Road, opposite Sattahip Municipal Office, to find the boyfriend, Sub-Lieutenant Kongkiet Kurdchuchuen (27), from Bangkok, stationed at Sattahip Navy Base, trapped in a bronze, Honda City car, struggling to extricate himself.
The rescue team helped to free Mr. Kongkiet from the car, but his left arm was broken and he had many scrapes and bruises. The girlfriend, Mrs. Kwancheewa Ongnititham (25), from Chiangmai province, had only sustained minor injuries. The couple were still intoxicated, but the rescue team gave them first aid and took them to the Emergency Room of Somdet Pranangjao Sirikit Hospital for examination.

Mrs. Kwancheewa said later that they had been drinking at a pub in Pattaya. After the pub closed, Mr. Kongkiet was too drunk, so she had to drive the car back to Sattahip. She admitted that she was drunk and sleepy, but it was only two kilometers to get home. She dozed off and caused the car to crash and overturn. She had been assisted to get out of the car by a good Samaritan, but her boyfriend was trapped. Fortunately, nobody was killed.
