On 19 September at Pattaya City Hall, Admiral Vichai Yuwananggul, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Row Boat Competition together with Admiral Gamthorn Pumhiran, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn attended the conference to prepare for the Sea Game 2007, other officers concerned joined them.
Admiral Vichai Yuwanggul, Chairman of the Organizing Committee said that for this 24 Sea Game which will be held from 6-15 December 2007, The government has chosen Nakornrachasima Province as the main venue for the competition. There will be 4 types of sports, rowing boat, sailing boat, windsurfing and horse riding in which the competition will take place in Chonburi.
As for the rowing boat events there will division into 3 types of competition, paddle boat, canoeing/kayak, long boat tradition, which will be held on Mab Prachan Lake. The Government appoint Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Suwajana Limpatapanlop, as President of the Board of Organizer of the 24th Sea Game and the Thailand Rowing Boat the Association will coordinate in appointing officers and working committee for this event.
For this event, the Sea Games Cabinet and Thailand International Olympic committee inspected the competition field Mab Prachan Lake for the first time on 8 September 2006 and they will continue to check on the preparation of the events ensuring that everything is in order.
The competition schedule will be in December 2007 as follows: 1. Paddle Boat competition from 6-9 December 2007, 2. Long boat tradition 12 rowers between 13-15 December 2007, 3. Canoeing and Kayak from 13-15 December 2007. The competition is divided into 21 events, paddleboat 11, canoe/kayak 7 and long boat 2.
The Row Boat Association meets difficulties in coordinating related departments such as the Provincial Office of Pattaya, Nongprue Municipal and Pong District Office
The main problem is the place for the event, some designated areas are not large enough for the competition. Also with the standard lacking facilities such as water, electricity, telephone, road, waste water system, scenery of the competition courses and nearby.
On a final note Admiral Vichai said that he would continue to ask for cooperation from various related sections.
