Thai Expatriates Are Invited to Cast Their Votes for the General Election During March 17 – 26 (19/03/2006)
About 1.2 Thai expatriates around the world, as well as officials and recipients of foreign scholarships, are expected to cast their votes in support of their favorite candidates in the April 2 general election.
Secretary-General of the Election Commission Police Major-General Ekachai Warunprapha says polling for Thai people who live abroad has been open during March 17-26, and they have been advised to exercise their rights at the Thai embassies and consulates in 83 countries. Pol Maj-Gen Ekachai states that each foreign booth is well equipped with voters‘ list and documents introducing candidates in their respective constituencies. Talking about the advance poll which is to be open in Thailand during March 25 -26, Pol Maj-Gen Ekachai stated that almost 500,000 voters have registered for the rights nationwide. He, however, expressed concerns about their turnout and urged those voters to come to the poll during the two days.
